Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in the field of education has transformed the way learning materials and assessments are delivered. Traditional paper-based activities are gradually being complemented or even replaced by digital formats that may offer enhanced accessibility, interactivity, and practicality for both teachers and students. This study aims to explore students’ perceptions of using digital and printed worksheets for quizzes in English language learning by administering survey questionnaires to 46 10th-grade students of MAN Surabaya. The participating students are the ones who have experience using both digital and printed worksheets for quizzes. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics to identify the general trend of students’ perception. The findings revealed that the majority of the students (87%) agreed that they preferred to have a digital worksheet rather than a printed one. The reasons for their preferences are due to its accessibility, features, and availability of instant scores or direct results. However, some students also believed that printed worksheets were useful for quizzes because of their absence of electronic devices and the ability to have better focus during quizzes. These results suggest that although digital worksheets are useful for completing the quiz as it is easy to access and get the direct results, teachers may also need to use the printed form, in particular, not all schools or students are facilitated with digital platforms or access. Therefore, a combination of both digital and printed worksheets is recommended to accommodate different learning contexts.
