Abstract
International students contend with various academic challenges, such as differences in language, culture, and learning systems at universities. These conditions demand the ability to survive and recover from daily academic difficulties, known as Academic Buoyancy. This study aims to describe the academic buoyancy of international students at Sunan Ampel State Islamic University, Surabaya, and the factors that influence it. This study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. The research subjects consisted of four international students selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The results indicate that international students possess relatively good academic buoyancy, demonstrated by self-confidence, study planning, persistence, and self-control in facing academic demands. Furthermore, a supportive academic environment, social relationships, and learning experiences also influence students' ability to cope with academic pressure, although feelings of anxiety still arise in certain situations.
