Abstract

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2017, it is estimated that there are around 1,179 neglected elderly people in Malang City. This is inversely proportional to the availability of nursing homes in Malang. Several studies say that the elderly around the age of 60-100 years have a tendency to accept an increasing religious opinion / religiosity. This opinion is in line with the reality that exists in the life of elderly people who are increasingly diligent in worshiping. For example, routine obligatory prayers and sunnah, reading the Qur'an, attending recitation, and other religious activities. The design is motivated by the issue that states that mental health problems or depression are experienced by the elderly who are not ready to face old age. The design of this Islamic boarding school for elderly in Malang is to provide a forum for neglected elderly people in Malang. Through a behavioral architecture approach as a design application consideration. then applied the design with the theme of responsive architecture. Where human and climate needs will be responded well in accordance with the character of the user (elderly).
