Abstract

Recent development of child abuse indicates that cases of sexual abuse for school children continue to increase. Throughout the year 2012, there were 2637 cases of child abuse, in the form of sexual violence, psychological and physical violence. In the forthcoming year, from January to October 2013, cases of child abuse amounted to 2,792. Meanwhile, from January to June 2014, there were 3,023 complaints of child abuse cases. Of that number 1,424 were cases of violence, of which 730 of them are sexual violence. This figure increased by 60 percent if compared to last year with 1,383 cases. Of this amount, 58 percent or 1,620 are cases of sexual crimes against children. The increasingly complex problems children with rampant life of street children, abandoned children, children widowed or divorced by her parents, as well as the degradation of morality in children (especially teenagers) in the form of promiscuity, immoral behavior, violence, and others. On the basis of those increasing cases the urgent to develop the child-friendly schools has became significant. Child-friendly schools are meant to protect the rights and obligations of the child and ensure the dignity and human values inherent in him. Child-friendly schools have various components that affect systemically, such as curriculum, facilities, management schools / madrasah, teachers / staff, children and parents as well as the Government. Harmonious cooperation between the various components is expected to support the creation of child-friendly schools. Prerequisites establishment of child-friendly school model includes at least some parts, the humanistic curriculum-based children's development, and spatial organization of child-friendly schools, school management and the teachers' code of ethics and strengthening the establishment of communication between teachers, parents, and parents with children as well. Government policy on child protection through Act No. 23 of 2002 and Law No. 20 Year 2003 on National Education System can be used as a starting point to build a child-friendly school. The entire pillar of the child-friendly school buildings essentially already exists potentially in each school, a resolve that is needed here and right now is the realization of its development by the school administrators.
