Conserving moderate Islam in Indonesiaan analysis of Muwafiq's speechon online media

This study aimed to examine the ideas of one prominent NahdlatulUlama(NU) preacher namedKH Ahmad Muwafiq(Muwafiq)about Islamic moderation in Indonesiawhile preachingin Bogor Palace on November 21, 2018.Through content analysisofMuwafiq’s preaching that was uploadedonYouTube media,this study found that there aretwo main themes inMuwafiq’ speech that were seemed relatedto the efforts to conserve moderate Islam; first is his preachingmodelhasemulatedthe ProphetMuhammad modelin proselytisingIslam, such aswise, non-violent,and adjustable tothe character and condition of the society. The second isrelated tothe influence of tradition and culture in the implementation of Islamic teachings.
